Marcela Donato is a performance artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After working for years as a performer and choreographer for and with choreographers such as Lia Rodrigues, Deborah Hay and Thiago Granato, Marcela' s attention turned to content development and curatorial processes in the area of live and visual arts. She co-curated the group exhibitions "La Crèche" within the 7th Berliner Kunstsalon Art Fair (2010) and "Playgroung Berlin @MicaMoca" at the temporary art space MicaMoca Berlin. She also co- initiated the performance project called BASEMENT, that each time invites 5 choreographers to join its eccentric format and that is now in its fourth edition. In her artistic practice, Marcela is interested in questions of social patterns of behavior, methodologies of artistic processes, situationism and authorship. Her performance and video works has been shown throughout europe in different contexts.
