André Luiz Santos da Silva, as known as ANDRÉ BERN, is a blogger, dance/performance artist. He lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As from a major interest in identity issues, André has created a series of interdisciplinary works, which fictionalize his life experiences as a black gay artist and establish connections between his academic background in dance and visual arts (he holds a BA in Dance (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and an MA in Arts (State University of Rio de Janeiro)), his ongoing research about body and memory, as well as his intense activity as a blogger/editor at ctrl+alt+dança, a website devoted to the diffusion and production of critical thought about contemporary dance and the arts of the body. Since 2001, he has collaborated with a number of Brazilian and foreign artists: Naiá Delion, Coletivo Pague Leve, Morena Paiva, Esther Weitzman, Aluisio Flores, Monica da Costa, Fábio Honório, Lígia Tourinho, Boyzie Cekwana (South Africa), Mélanie Demers (Canada), Tamara Cubas (Uruguay), hello!earth (Denmark) and Didine Ángel (El Salvador).
