Anurekha Ghosh is one of the finest Kathak dancers in Britain whose performance has been recognized internationally. Her technique and style is a combination of “tradition and modernity”. She has been exploring the intricacies of the classical traditions of Kathak. The precise footwork, multiple pirouettes executed in lighting speed, exquisite grace of Kathak which is very hypnotic in nature, sensitive yet subtle mime, brilliant rhythmic improvisations between the dancer and the musicians, abstracting out an interesting rhythmic dialogue building to a crescendo and melodies. Anurekha’s performance is an exciting and deep journey from Stillness into Motion, from Silence into Sound, yet they all share the same space. Anurekha has performed in the major venues and Festivals in USA, Canada, Europe, Morocco, India, Estonia, Pakistan and the UK. Based in Birmingham, Anurekha Ghosh & Company seeks inspiration from the east and west, and creates original expression, an expression that is very unique by its own nature. It does this by creating exciting classical and contemporary dance productions, creating a dialogue, combining movement, poetry, digitally created visuals and moving images unraveling the intimacy between the real and virtual world, and challenging mixture of live classical music from Indian sub-continent, and contemporary music. The aim of the company is to communicate the beauty and power of the very best of Indian classical dance form Kathak, and contemporary dance to international audiences in UK and abroad.
