Ashley Ferro-Murray is a curator and scholar whose primary focus is on choreography and performance that deals actually or metaphorically with technology, media, or digital cultures. She is currently the curator of theater and dance at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Previously, Ferro-Murray was the Andrew W. Mellon Creative Time Global Fellow at New York City's public arts organization Creative Time. Ferro-Murray is currently working on a book project titled "Choreography and the Digital Era: Dancing the Cultural Differences of Technology." Based in part on her doctoral research and informed by her current curatorial practice, "Choreography in the Digital Era" focuses on media-based choreography and explores the importance of movement in the construction of bodies and identity in the digital age. Ferro-Murray has also worked as a choreographer to explore the relationship between the body and technology. She has published in Media-N Journal, The Drama Review and Dance Research Journal. She has also been a featured a contributor on -empyre- new media list serve and on HASTAC, In Media Res and Dancers Using Technology blogs. Ferro-Murray has given talks at University of California, Irvine, The University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College, and Cornell University as well as at conferences including The Society for Dance History Scholars, Congress on Research and Dance, Performance Studies International, American Society for Theater Research, and Digital Media and Learning. Ferro-Murray’s choreography has been shown at The American College Dance Festival New England, Cornell University, University of California, Berkeley, The Milk Bar in Oakland, CA, and ZERO1 Biennial in San Jose, CA.

Thanks for the comment. Your work sounds great. Where were you when you met the S? I am also a east/west coast kind of girl, I am truly recognizing that I can't stay in one place for too long, it's good to have options. I am now on vacation on the central coast, then I continue this cross-continental experimental performance/rehearsal process of ID. What a year. How's Berkeley for studying performance?
