Carina Hesper graduated Cum Laude in June 2008 at the Fine Art department of the ArtEZ Academy of Arts Arnhem, the Netherlands. She specialized as a photographer and experimental filmmaker. Time and change through time are always present in her work. Her photographic graduation project Black Fire, White Ashes is about photographing scenes in full colour (RGB documents) that look like black and white photographs. In this project she mostly photographed (partly) burned down locations, where the fire devastated all the memories. However the fire also created new, e.g. a fire mark from a mattress that created an enormous spatial impression situated on a flat white wall. Her experimental dance film TimeCopy was screened at many festivals around the world, including Amsterdam, Basel, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Budapest and Bilbao. In addition to her autonomous art practice Carina works as a fashion photographer. Even in her fashion photographs you can see her great interest for film, because she prefers cinematic, atmospheric lighting and scenographpy. Next to that she loves the speed of the constantly innovating fashion world.
