Francesca Pennini (Ferrara 1984, lives between Berlin and Italy) starts off as a gymnast and then devoted herself to contemporary dance. She studies at Balletto di Toscana and Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London. Her compositional activity focuses on the research of new perspectives and definitions of the body in the contemporary society through a multimediality of languages that goes from videodance to performance, from photography to graphics and body installations. In 2007 she founds the research company CollettivO CineticO as a flexible net of performers, visual artists, composers, videomakers. She is the winner of Giovani Danz'Autori Award 2008. In 2009 she is a selected choreographer for the Choreoroam Project supported by Operaestate Festival Veneto (IT), Dance Week Festival (HR), Dansescenen (DK), Dansateliers (NL), Certamen Coreografico di Madrid (E), The Place (UK). At the moment she is dancer for Sasha Waltz & Guests and finalist for the Equilibrio Award 2010 (Auditorium Parco della Musica - Rome). Her new project "The uncertain scene" is sustained by the european project "Focus on Art and Science in the Performing Arts".
