About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..short bio/ THis is the most important. It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!
I am a solo and collaborative artist whose work spans the realms of theatre, music, dance, circus and film. I've made and toured five solo shows: most recently Something Or Nothing with director Sinéad Rushe and before that Bottle, Unsung, the Time Out award-winning Would Say Something and Travels With My Virginity, which I'm presently developing for film. I am the co-director of Oogly Boogly, an improvisational event for babies and their parents/carers. It has toured internationally since 2004 including the Melbourne Festival, has a sister company based at Dans Stationen in Sweden and is widely considered to be one of the most innovative shows for young children of the past decade. The company is presently involved in an ongoing research project working with children with multiple disabilities in collaboration with Oakfield Special School, Dance4 and Nottingham Trent University Division of Psychology. I am an associate artist with the international award winning Improbable, also part of the Lone Twin Theatre Catastrophe Trilogy team and the director of Live Heart, an inclusive improvisational ensemble whose Frameworks won a P and B Showcase award and appeared two years running at Bristol Old Vic’s Bristol Jam. On the experimental video front I'm interested in using the editing process to forge what I call "Physical-Music" films out of live voice-movement improvisations. This is something I've been developing since being part of the Choreographiclab.org. Physical Music Sample 4 was shown last year at Nottingham Contemporary and Wallpaper Dance in Trieste. I recently collaborated with musicians in the Sound Movement Residency at Tanzfabrik in Berlin and this year I hope to continue the next stage of a collaboration with deaf Japanese choreographer Chisato Minamimura on Shaping Sound, a project that explores voice, movement, sensation and acoustic technology in relationship to ‘hearing’.
