Artist Statement: Benno je’NI Mutability of form as canvas Beauty is the authority and thus our philosophy. It is the ultimate statement and it covers all vocabulary. Beauty is our area of expertise and skill to get to that place of authority. Beauty is our science. We study beauty as an anthropological science and live by its principles. Passion requires us to be responsible for what we express and how we project creation. Our contribution is a self-realized, self-sustaining vehicle and container. Everything has its place in performance. What is being created is on its destiny. We merely interpret what creation has in mind. Because we claim beauty, it is ours to express with. We connect the spheres of art, narrative, philosophy, music, performance, movement and style in order to allow them to serve one another. Who we are Benno je’NI is a creative partnership with Benno as concept creator, director and executor of photography and design and je’NI as concept creator, co-director of photography and design, image subject and editor. Benno je’NI investigate instinctual facets of emotional behaviors. Through impromptu psychological instigations, Benno provokes je’NI into responses which Benno captures. This mysterious process between them reveals archetypes within je’NI that translate into universal messages of self-innovation, modes of self-expression and self-acceptance, inherent in humanity. When Benno je’NI unite in post-production, the mystery defines itself into categories that allow them to broach subjects relegated to taboo. Thus, their art becomes the vehicle and voice for such secrets in people’s lives. The distorted perspectives that Benno je’NI create reveal the need for humanity to reevaluate the ways in which they view themselves and one another for a more integrated understanding of humanity to evolve. je’NI catapults herself out of the confined matrix through her ability to release levels of her self-consciousness in her performative process, yet within her is contained every quality found within this intimate human paradigm. Her entire being emerges from her physical form. Thus, the images become the amplification of certain ways to perceive feelings, thoughts and belief systems within the human paradigm and Benno addresses these with a near lens into je’NI’s internal states. je’NI involves the viewer on multiple levels with direct and partial engagement as well as with inner conversations with the subject as herself.
