Kat Cameron is an undergraduate student attending the University of Wisconsin in pursuit of degrees in Biological Aspects of Conservation and Environmental Studies and a Certificate in Dance. On top of being a student, Kat is an award-winning and nationally published photographer who specializes in dance and performance photography and is currently investigating the power of moving images. As a photographer, she works with internationally acclaimed dance choreographers and dance companies along with various University of Wisconsin - Madison divisions and student organizations and local artists. Her clients currently include the UW-Madison Dance Department, Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives, History Department, and Historical Humanities Cluster. Her work has been published in the Isthmus along with numerous UW-Madison Dance Department publications and in nationally distributed academic journals. Her research into the moving images reaches out into two disciplines: dance and the environment. Expanding upon her knowledge of capturing single frames of movement, screendance seemed to be the next step on her artistic journey. Environmental filmmaking is a combination of all of Kat’s passions and provides her a creative outlet to raising awareness and calling people to action for environmental issues.
