Ok here's the official biog first.... Lalitaraja (Joachim Chandler MA) is a senior lecturer in the dance department at Roehampton University where he teaches choreography, contact improvisation and improvisation. As a performer he worked with Scottish Ballet, Michael Clark, Adventures in Motion Pictures, Laurie Booth, Yolande Snaith and Charles Linehan among others. He has presented more than 25 choreographic works and continues to choreograph and perform. The name Lalitaraja was given on ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order. He has been meditating for thirty years and he also teaches meditation and Buddhism in London. He engages in practice-based research in the areas of contemplation, improvisation, choreography and the meeting points in between. My movement practice is pretty much centred around contact and improvising these days. I teach a lot and don't get to a lot of classes and jams outside the university at the moment. So any time I can carve out for myself in the studio is often solo. I don't mind this, In fact I welcome it as a time to process things and reflect on my own practice.
