Luis Vieira is a musician, sound designer and sound artist, from Porto. He graduated with 2.1 from Superior School of Music and Performing Arts with a BA in Music Production and Technologies. After graduating he was accepted into Casa da Música internship program, a one-year residency at Casa da Música in Oporto, where he recorded and mixed concerts from OSP, Remix Ensemble, Casa da Música Choir, having the chance to record with conductors like Peter Rundel, Peter Eötvös, Baldur Brönnimann, Leopold Hager, Simon Carrington, Paul Hillier, and others, and many other groups. Since completing the Casa’s program, Luís spent half a year as sound designer for the Danish theater company, Hotel Pro Forma, and worked closely with names like Kirsten Dehlhom, Julian Maynard Smith and Jesper Kongshaug. Luís has adamantly remained a generalist. Crossing many artistic canvases, he develops projects with other artists from various fields and defines himself with a multimedia approach, research, and questioning. His work explores the memory and the time, the sound and music in relation to space and the vocabularies of tradition and innovation. He is also very interested in the growing possibilities of new technologies and social tools, and the reflection of these in the context of art and culture.
