Matteo Marziano Graziano (Torino, 1984) is a contemporary choreographer, but not only. Dance artist, performer and film director, he graduated from the dance department of Paolo Grassi School of Performing Arts, Milan and owns a MA in Choreography summa cum laude from HZT Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin. Matteo’s choreographic research draws from somatic disciplines (Feldenkreis, BMC, Alexander technique, Danza Sensibile) and aims to a physical dancing condition of the body, retracing the archaic matrix and primitive energetic currents that still live in the body since the origins. He puts attention to the relationship between body and music, exploring composers and genres of contemporary and classical music, such as Stockhausen, Ligety, Berio, Strauss, Rossini, Haydn, analog music technology, experimental music theatre and opera. He collaborates with names such as Emio Greco PC, Dansmakers Amsterdam, De Nederlandse Opera, Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Operafestival, Volkstheater Rostock, Schaubühne Berlin. He is artistic consultant for CINEDANS international videodance festival and juror at video dance festivals. He danced a.o. for C.ie Cinzia Delorenzi, Emio Greco PC, Lucinda Childs, Luciana Melis. His choreographic works and short movies have toured internationally. Owns a BA in Anthropology from the University of Torino. Being fascinated by the movement of the body as well as the movement of the image, Matteo is the initiator of CASA * MARZIANO, a flexible troupe of artists under a production house roof for body-focused film and performance and its intersections, with its headquarter in Berlin.
