While completing her PhD in Advanced Studies in Human Behavior, Natalie was trained through the Dance for PD® program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group. Her dissertation studied the experiences of people who take the class Dance for Parkinson’s Disease. This led her to redesign classes for people who cannot get on the floor or stand for an hour class because they have various physical limitations. These classes offer adaptations to move in a chair supportively, while dancing. From this exploration in offering supported movement Natalie wrote the course Adaptive Movement Through Dance from her experience in working with many populations that have trouble moving, specifically with those who have PD and Autism. She began teaching this course at Rutgers University in the Spring 2020. She also wrote the course Neuroscience in Partnership with Dance and will teach this in the Fall of 2021. Natalie teaches the Dance for PD® classes at Rutgers University on Saturdays and at various other community centers and assisted living centers in PA. While still living in Pennsylvania for the past 17 years, Natalie has also taught at various colleges throughout PA and NJ as an Adjunct Professor. Besides teaching many forms of dance, Natalie is certified in AFAA Primary Group Certification giving her the knowledge to add fitness elements into her dance aerobic classes. She also teaches dance online through the Outschool Platform, providing Anne Green Gilbert’s Brain Compatible Dance Education to children aged 3 to 18. Her experience in dancing with both the younger and older populations has always been her true passion.
