About Me (human/individual)/interests, work..short bio/ THis is the most important. It is the only way to know that you are not a SPAMBOT!Be generous!

PILAR GALLEGOS (Mexico, 1973). Contemporary dance choreographer and dancer, originally from Mexico City, she lives and works in Udine, Italy, since 2008. The aesthetics of her choreographies allocate from dance-theater narratives, passing through ritualistic cues and sometimes arriving at a conceptual dance with elements of performance art and video. In her dance work, she investigates the symbolic forms of the human body concerning its emotional contents. For her pieces she develops narrative dramaturgy, constructing juxtapositions of different layers of meanings through the various scenic languages. Technology is a tool that has aesthetically defined her works and has allowed her to expand her imagination on stage, aiding to create environments of real parallel worlds. As a freelance choreographer she has signed ten independent productions: Madame Cuquita's Show (2000), Zoo (2001), Emoción Plástica (2002), Ulyses (2003), Sin Título (2006), Mi cuerpo es mi casa (2011), Una tribu, eso es lo que soy (2012), Transmutation (2014), Hombre mujer, arbol hijo libro (2014) and the first solo from the series Stereo Tipo Cosmo Politan / Fashion Model (2018), mainly supported by FONCA and IBERESCENA. In Mexico she won the choreographic awards XXI Premio INBA-UAM and the Primer Premio de la Crítica "Raúl Flores Guerrero" . She has been in artistic residences at The Banff Center, Canada (2002), La Nave del Duende, Spain (2011), Tec-Art-Eco, Italy (2011), Plesna Izba Maribor, Slovenia (2014) and Atlantic Center for the Arts , USA (2020), among the most important. Her choreographies have been performed in a vast and numerous reality of platforms dedicated to contemporary dance in Mexico, USA, Canada, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Slovenia, and Italy. In this last one, highlight venues are "The Marathon of the Unexpected" of VIII La Biennale Danza in Venice, II NAO Performing Festival in Milan, BPFORM in Rome, and V Off Label in Udine. She has collaborated as a dancer and assistant to Virgilio Sieni in the productions of the CSS Teatro Stabile di Innovazione del FVG held in Udine. Holds a Bachelor Arts degree in Choreography (1996-2000) from the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea of the Centro Nacional de las Artes in Mexico and she has followed seminars and masterclasses with Carolyn Carlson, Maguy Marin, Virgilio Sieni, Emio Greco, Simona Bertozzi, Ariella Vidach, Iztok Kovac, and Annie-B Parson, among others.
