Suze Smith is a director, performer, dramaturge and lighting designer. Suze is a founding member of the newly formed physical theatre company, The Collective Directive. The company perform both improvised and devised work, and have just completed a creative development for their new show Translation at Theatreworks. In 2008, Suze undertook two artist in schools residencies, one at Coburg Senior High School where she devised and directed No One Owns the Streets and the second at the Australian International Academy where she wrote and directed Abu Ali’s Adventures. In 2007 Suze studied a Post Graduate Diploma in Performance Creation – Directing at the VCA. Whilst there she directed the premiere of Daniel Keene’s Between Today and Tomorrow and was assistant director for The Conduct of Life. Suze was dramaturge for Behind the Extra Limbs, a social circus joint production by Hip Cats and Westside Circus in 2007. Suze’s lighting design credits include Hitchhiker by Spark Theatre 2009, and Quartet by A is for Atlas 2009.
