Wiing Liu is a double diploma graduate from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Republic Polytechnic, in Dance (Choreography) and New Media Design (Fine Arts). Wiing started dancing in year 2008 under the mentorship of Zaini Tahir and Marcus Foo, she then received training in Ballet, Modern and Asian Dance during her studies in NAFA. Having the opportunity to work with local and international choreographers like James Cousins (UK) , Jefri Andi Usman (Indonesia) , Wu Chien Wei (Taiwan) , Wallie Wolfgruber (New york), Sun Shang Chi (Germany), Aida Redza (Malaysia) , Pichet Kluchun (Thailand), Mdm Lim Feishen (Singapore), Larry Clark (New york), Lee Mun Wai (Singapore) and Kavitha Krishnan (Singapore), to name a few. Wiing is very intrigued by the similarities of the East and the West despite of their differences. As an aspiring choreographer, Wiing has presented various works for NUS evocation 2011 and 2012, Sprouts 2013 and 2011 and Danza! 2009. She also participated in a Dramaturgy Mentorship program with Esplanade under Lim How Neagn in 2013. Currently working as a budding artist, Wiing is working towards creating works that are relevant to the current time. She sees the body as a universal language for dancers to connect with each other despite their differences. She wants to experience dance and dance making from dancers and dance makers around the world to inspire her contemporary expression.
