David Hernandez was born in Miami FL. He studied studio music & jazz and opera at the University of Miami and Dance at the New world School of the Arts. He apprenticed with Trisha Brown Company, then came to Europe with Meg Stuart to start the Damaged Goods company, collaborated choreographically on several projects with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker including "Zeitung" "Keeping Still" and "D'un Soir un Jour" and dances and sings in the production "Cesena" of Rosas. As a pedagogue he has taught at PARTS for more than 15 years and gives workshops internationally. He has been making his own work for over 20 years and has a longterm collaboration with LaborGras in Berlin. He was one of the three initiators of the Crash Landing improvisation project along with Christine DeSmet and Meg Stuart, and is a partner in the private dance initiative DansCentrumJette with Roxanne Huilmand and Wolfgang Holbst.
