The second Brooklyn Commune gathering featured a keynote presentation called "The Letter and the Envelope: Designing a Business Structure as a Creative Practice" by Amy Whitaker. Amy Whitaker (http://amywhitaker.org/) is a writer, artist, and teacher working at the intersection of creativity, business, and everyday life. She holds both an MBA from Yale and an MFA in painting from the Slade. A member of the Art Business faculty at the Sotheby’s Institute in New York and a founding member of the Products of Design faculty at the School of Visual Arts, her teaching has been cited in Forbes, the Financial Times, The Awl, the New York Times Cityroom Blog, and Corporate Counsel. Amy is also the author of Museum Legs (Hol Art Books , 2009) and the 2013 recipient of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Sarah Verdone Writing Award.
