  • Hello,

This is an interview that I did with Gideon Obarzanek.

  • Some of the visual effects are absolutely stunningly beautiful, however a lot of the movement content and overall composition of that movement is not as compelling: Each change in computer/ lighting effect has a specific quality and design potential; the movement material existing in it, shapes that design potential. If these episodic like effects existed in some other physical and temporal arrangement for the live context — maybe side by side reminiscent of the mini portraits of bill viola Catherine's Room, 2001 or four hands, or the wonderful limits of perceptions — the value of what makes the aesthetics of each movement phase / live -light canvas / would for me enrich the experience. The current uni-dimentional linear framing does not support how these elements exist together. (ps. the performer has an amazing physical range, but to what end is this employed in this work).
