Dirt (2013, 11min) is cyber-solo created and performed for live, real-time video streaming on the internet, in which the performer manipulates a camera to reveal and conceal her own body and direct the spectator’s gaze. The performer is at once submissive and antagonistic; sensual and coarse; on display, on guard, and on attack. The idea of dirt inspires the choreography literally: smeared over skin, bitter to taste, caked underfoot; and figuratively: secrets, shame, promiscuity, gossip. The piece aims to be vulnerable, intimate, and unpredictable through the negotiation of performer-audience interaction.Created & Performed by: Teoma NaccaratoPremiere: Time Wave International Festival, London UK, June 21-22, 2013Created in Residence at Eastern Bloc, Montreal QCEquipment Grant from Productions Réalisations Indépendantes de Montréal (PRIM)-Interview about Dirt for dpi Blog: http://dpi.studioxx.org/en/dirt-interview-teoma-naccarato
