Film and video artist Pete Gomes has created a new film about the artist-led online community Furtherfield. Featuring interviews with Furtherfield co-directors Ruth Catlow and Marc Garret as well as artists, techies, games theorists and users of Furtherfield platforms, the short film captures a dynamic networking collective working across technology, social change and art.
Gomes, of artist-run production company ‘Mutant film’, works across all forms of moving image and electronic media. His work covers varied styles and genres using music, documentary, experimental, and narrative techniques. Gomes has exhibited his work internationally including shows at: Tate Modern, Tate Britain, ICA, Whitechapel Gallery, Architecture Foundation, Gimpel Fils, Barcelona Centre for Contemporary Culture, Stedelijk Museum, Vienna Museum of Contemporary Art, Leeds International Film Festival, Sonar and others. In 2008 his film Round 10, commissioned by UK Channel 4 and the Arts Council of England, was screened in the UK, Channel Four and ABC Australia. Currently Gomes is working on a new documentary film about performance art commissioned by Performa 09.
