Short film festival 2011
Call for submissions
IDILL is an international competition for short films of movement and dance.
The aim of IDILL is to reveal and reward cinematographic and audiovisual creativity that has dance as its central theme, and, more broadly, movement. Particular attention is also focused on the musical dimension that accompanies or underpins the cinematographic work. IDILL aims at highlighting creation in contemporary dance through the poetic, innovative vision of authors and directors. Commercial music clips are not accepted in this competition. The choice of the format – less than 5 minutes – is intended to encourage works, which do not necessarily have standard means of production. It also constitutes a deliberate artistic choice in so far as it gives rise to a cinematographic language that is highly specific.
IDILL is a competition offering five prizes
IDILL main prize from the French community of Belgium / 5,000 euros
Prize for musical creativity / 2,000 euros
Audience prize / 2,000 euros
Prize for new creators/prize for innovation / 2,000 euros
Prize for a particular eye/world outlook prize / 2,000 euros
IDILL will feature a prize-giving ceremony in La Gaîté Lyrique, Paris, France at the end of November 2011. The ceremony will be broadcast online and presented in different cities around the world. The event will be part of a varied gala evening, which will include a screening of the winners’ films and also a live link-up, enabling simultaneous prize giving (depending on the location of the prize winners). It will form part of the Charleroi/Danses biennial.
IDILL is a production of Charleroi/Danses, the choreographic centre of the French community of Belgium, La Gaîté Lyrique, the daily meeting place for technology, art and people in Paris and Sadler’s Wells, the UK’s leading dance house. In partnership with Dança em foco, the international festival of video dance in Brazil, with the support of the French community and the ministry in Belgium.
