I interviewed David Kern, talented dancer for 30 years for the Forsythe Company and programmer. He tells us about the PieceMaker platform "a multi-user application which assists in notating and scoring dance and theatrical pieces. In its capture mode it helps you keep track of what happened in rehearsals. This includes rehearsal notes, and the notation of rehearsal videos. In assemblage mode it helps you put the piece together by coordinating events (such as dance scenes, lighting cues, sound cues, etc) in a multi-track timeline.
David Kern was born in New Orleans. He joined San Francisco Ballet in 1981. There he danced many works by Balanchine and Michael Smuin. Joined Ballett Frankfurt in 1987. From 1994-2004 was freelance dancer and choreographer living in Paris. Member of The Forsythe Company since 2005.
