DEBORAH HAY:
Lightening
"Lightening has a double meaning. It is a powerful force of nature and it represents a kind of weightlessness that is important to me as a choreographer."
"I have a strong sense of relationship with the dancers I have previously worked with in Helsinki. They all have a magical sense of awareness that is heightened by their passion as performers." (Deborah Hay)
Deborah Hay is a living legend of American postmodern dance who has inspired and influenced generations of choreographers and dancers for more than four decades. Hay's inimitable choreographic power and her unique method of 'perception practice' celebrates the ephemereal nature of dance, resulting in an authentic experience of time. Zodiak and the Helsinki Festival are honored to present the new creation Lightening for six renowned Finnish dancers.
