Rachel Boggia and Marlon Barrios Solano introduce with a short video and a text the minded motion lab from the meta-academy.org/bates project. This is the text that Rachel reads: How is embodied knowledge transmitted? One moment in a dancing experience might include awareness of touch, space, social organization, collaborative decision making, and composition. We are conducting an experiment to see if we can use free internet based multi-media tools to translate, transpose, and excavate this kind of embodied knowledge online. Nancy Stark Smith's "States of Grace" class at the Bates Dance Festival and her "Underscore" are the touchstones for our first pilot program, "Minded Motion." Each week, Nancy will teach an embodied activity on line. Guest lecturers from the fields of Neuroscience, Dance Notation, and Dance Theory will give mini lectures and be available for conversation in google hangouts. Lab participants will use free internet-based tools to create collaborative projects. Details: http://meta-academy.org/bates/ Hosted by the Bates Dance Festival. Facilitated by Marlon Barrios Solano (dance-tech.net|HZT Berlin) and Rachel Boggia (Bates College Dance) participate online 4-6 hours /week for 3 weeks from July 22-August 10.
