Dance-tech.net interviewed choreographer Yanira Castro in occasion of the world premiere of the piece"Center of Sleep" @ Dance Theater Workshop (http://www.dancetheaterworkshop.org/castro). http://www.yaniracastrocompany.org/flash/index.html Castro takes us across primal and awkward intervened geographies and architectures. She makes intimate ripe environments where the dance happens. Center of Sleep is commissioned by the Bessie Schönberg/First Light Commissioning and Creative Residency Program of Dance Theater Workshop with support from the Jerome Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Jerome Robbins Foundation. Center of Sleep was developed, in part, through a creative residency at the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography at Florida State University.
