Long Island University’s New Media Art & Performance Master’s Program (NMP) presents two graduate student solo works that explore food, cultural identity, technology and performance. The evening will open with conceptual artist Whitney V. Hunter’s How to Make Hotwater Cornbread, a new work that investigates sound, texture, and ritual through the physical manipulation of cornmeal; it is a fusion of tradition and technology. Choreographer Sita Frederick will perform her thesis project, BitterSuite, which includes an interactive installation of ethnographic interviews and a solo inspired by sugar production, dislocation, and identity.
