What happens when the audience, expecting to see dancers dancing, hears them playing music instead? How can the experience and the logic of a dancer penetrate the dimensions of sound and stimulate a new musical logic?André Lepecki, curator, writer and Associate Professor of Performance studies at NYU is joined by Ty Boomershine, former Emio Greco dancer, in a video-illustrated examination of these and other questions surrounding Greco’s new work. Lepecki is author of Exhausting Dance: performance and the politics of movement and Boomershine was part of the creation process of making POPOPERA.
