Lenzu’s movement vocabulary originates from folk traditions using rusticprimal gestures with accents of sweeping lyrical action that transports the audience to avibrant physical and emotional space.Lenzu's newest work The Corral process the experience of “El Corralito”—the 2001 socialpoliticaluprising in Argentina when the government froze all bank accounts, essentiallyrobbing the entire nation overnight. The word “Corralito” translates to corral, a holding penfor farm animals. Is your homeland part of your identity? Where is your home once you have left yourhomeland behind? The pages of history in any country are written with the same words:anger, power, joy, fear and hope. The question of "society" and personal identity are interwoven, and the work centers aroundthe destruction and subsequent rebuilding of that relationship. It tells the story of onespecific country, but the message is global. The Corral is performed by Briana Fails, Samuel Humphreys, Dawn Quigley, Debra Zalkind,Lauren Ohmer & Anabella Lenzu.www.AnabellaLenzu.com
