This seminar examines notions of authorship within the genre of physical theatre and exemplifies its discussions through an analysis of Jasmin Vardimon Company’s Justitia (2012). A key aim in this study is to unpick the creative and philosophical tensions that characterise performance-making in physical theatre by examining the incongruences that exist between conventional hierarchies of directing and more collaborative and non-hierarchical devising methodologies.
