Dance Art Foundation and Chisenhale Dance Space are very pleased to be working in partnership to deliver Dance Connections 2011 in London this autumn.
Dance Connections is a national dance and health training and development initiative. In 2011, Dance Connections focuses on Children and Young People, offering children’s projects in Hackney and Tower Hamlets. We are recruiting dance artists who wish to develop skills and confidence in the delivery of children’s dance projects in a of children’s services including health and education settings.

Facilitated by Dance Art Foundation’s leading practitioners Cecilia Macfarlance, Joe Moran and Kirstie Richardson, participating artists will receive introductory training in dance and health, specialist training in children’s dance with a health and wellbeing focus, and a closely mentored opportunity to gain practical experience leading sessions in community settings.
The programme incorporates 4 days free training and artists will receive generous bursaries to deliver 8 weekly sessions in the community. The programme runs September – November 2011.

Artist specification
Ideal applicants will:
• be currently engaged in, or actively pursuing, a professional career in dance in the community, with a particular interest in dance, health and wellbeing
• be able to demonstrate a strong interest in professional dance practice and its role in wider public life
• be able and willing to attend all training and delivery commitments
