Dear All,I have resumed teaching Damo I Jin, a 'tendon-changing' form of chi kung, in Central Park, on Saturday mornings at 10:30am. Chi kung is often translated as "life force energy practice" and, Damo means Bodhidharma in Chinese. Bodhidharma is the Buddhist saint who walked from India toChina and, finding the Shaolin monks sedentary and lethargic, taught them 'tendon-changing' exercises to prepare them for rigorous meditation. The same mental clarity, focus and relaxed yet energized alertness that is sought in meditation, is also of great benefit to anyone living in an urban environment. This is an all-standing form with twists, bends and squats, which is easily modified for newcomers as necessary. If your schedule permits you to join us, we'll be meeting at West 86th Street and Central Park West at 10:30am. There are benches right inside the entrance on the northeastern corner of West 86th and CPW, and we can meet there. For those of you attending for the first time, the class is run by donation--according to your ability to pay, with a suggested donation of $15. Please let me know if you are planning to attend by replying to quicksilverdance@yahoo.com by Friday afternoon or leaving a message at 212-946-1537. Since the class is weather dependent, it's a good idea to leave a phone number where I can reach you.Best,Laura
