The Children's Dance on a Shoestring is an intimate program of dance held in New York Theatre Ballet’s studio performed, managed, and produced entirely by students from NYTB's dance academy, Ballet School New York. Original choreography by students a well as classic variations will be showcased. The objective of this project is to show students the type of work they would need to do as a director. It gives each student a new level of responsibility and an outlet to share their passion in a creative and organized way. A committee of students ages 13-17 runs the production, and the show itself includes students from every level, highlighting their talents and the technique they have acquired as a student of Ballet School New York.  The show provides a learning experience that guides and develops the artistic and administrative abilities needed to produce a professional performance.

Children's Dance on a Shoestring is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council. New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
