Hello Art Fans,

This is the last Chisenhale Art Club until the autumn hits… the sun is coming out and we are going to spend the first Wednesday of the month sunbathing instead!

So for June we have FOUR acts for your viewing pleasure, instead of the usual three. Now that’s value for money!

See you on Wednesday the 1st of June!

Love Roberta, Matt and Bryony

Chisenhale Art Club is monthly night curated by 3 artists: Roberta Jean (dancer/choreographer), Bryony Kimmings (live artist) and Matt Shlomowitz (composer). The night is a mixed bill of Dance, Live Art, Music and Film… this is work that we love and want to share with you.

Drew Taylor (Live Art)

TIME AFTER TIME.

Combining new works as commissioned by Brighton International Festival, and stellar retrospective pieces from Drew's extensive tome...
this show looks at "time" as an inevitable consequence of living [get on with it]  retrospection as a viable form of validation [love me] influence as interesting borrowing [she copied me]...and the valuable lessons learnt from Cyndi Lauper

Joe Moran (Dance)

At Once

At Once is a solo by iconoclastic American choreographer Deborah Hay, founder of the Judson Church Theatre in New York and widely acknowledged as one of the most influential representatives of postmodern dance. London-based choreographer and dancer Joe Moran adapted the work over an intensive three-month period before touring At Once to Athens, Toronto and cities across the UK. For this lecture-performance, Moran performs the choreographic ‘score’ of At Once, with brief excerpts of the dance, offering a compelling insight into the complex thinking behind the work, its choreographic transmission and adaptation.

Mark Applebaum (Music)

A set of pieces by visiting American composer Mark Applebaum.
Featuring works for 3 conductors, hand actions and tape, vibes and assistants and the ritual tapping and rubbing of stones.

Performed by Mark Applebaum
Serge Vuille, Mark Knoop & Gijs Kramers
RCM Percussion Ensemble [Emma Arden, Peter Handley, Joe Richards, Oliver Patrick & Steffan Ciccotti]
Stanford Improvisation Collection, Oxford Chapter

Sarah Trouche

'My work is everything that engages my curiosity
drawing painting dance sculpture video installations
It is performance "l'instant pregnant" - a moment frozen in time and space, in a unique frame of suspension A short-lived moment that summarizes the entire story. You stand as i perform; you make your trip,  the trip becomes a ritual, mine and yours  A collective time, sacred in action  a “mise en scene” of symbols, constructing a new time and space.
