Dance Across the Board Graduate Student ConferenceSaturday, February 13th, 20109:00 AM – 6:00 PMNew York UniversityTisch Dance Department2nd Floor – Son of Normandy Studio111 Second AvenueNew York, NY 10003The NYU Tisch Dance Department will host the second annual Dance Across the Board Conference on February 13th, 2010. Last year, at the inaugural DAB Conference, we explored the meaning and implications of an impulse to begin. This year, graduate students from across the country will gather to present dance and body-based performance research that address the theme: “Transitions.” Three panels of papers, performances and lecture-demonstrations will consider the shifts and transformations beyond the impulse, as it changes from one movement, condition, or place to another.Randy Martin, author, professor and chair of the NYU-Tisch Department of Art and Public Policy, will give the keynote address. Featured will be a special panel that brings together former and current performing artists who transition between several professional identities to discuss the thematic and structural relevance of transitions both in their work and in the world.DAB is funded by the Tisch Graduate Student Organization and organized by students from the NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study and Tisch Departments of Dance, Performance Studies and Art and Public Policy. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required. For more information, please visit our website.
