TimePiece: Another imperfect measurement of us

in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Kinesis Project dance theatre presents excerpts of TimePiece: Another imperfect measurement of us in a free performance on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 7pm in Brooklyn Bridge Park, as a part of Gibney Dance's dance-mobile Summer 2017.

TimePiece: Another imperfect measurement of us is a site-mobile outdoor dance about time, perspective and connection over distances; as the dancers move, spin and partner - their costumes slowly release brightly colored sand - drawing the audience, and the movement throughout the space.

Kinesis Project is an NYC based, large-scale, outdoor dance company led by choreographer Melissa Riker. The company is developing a new, multi-chromatic performance inviting contemplation of impermanence. Riker, the dancers, and close collaborators NYC costume designer Asa B. Thornton and Seattle material artist Celeste Cooning, are creating a kinetically kaleidoscopic work that celebrates connection, defies distance, and displays the ephemeral by drawing and confronting time, effort, and motion.

Kinesis Project will also lead Class in the Grass at 5:30pm in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Dance-mobile is a free outdoor performance series presenting works by Gibney Dance Company and guests in parks throughout New York City. This summer, the series offers excerpts of Gina Gibney's Folding In (2016) performed by Gibney Dance Company, and a one-night-only class and performance by Kinesis Project dance theatre. All performances are free and open to the public. Details at GibneyDance.org.
