DANCE + TECHNOLOGY INTENSIVE   24/25/26.08.2016

The inaugural Oulu Dance Hack is a three day event presented by TaikaBox and hosted at the School of Media and Performing Arts, Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OAMK)

We are looking for participants from three fields:

Dance: choreographers, dancers, performance artists

Tech: digital artists, coders, video artists, digital sound designers

Theatre: directors, writers, designers, musicians, actors

The object of the event is to introduce dance artists to new technologies that can be adapted and re-contextualized for use in the creation and performance of dance, and, simultaneously, to introduce digital artists and technologists to the world of dance. There are also a limited number of spaces for other specialists in performance to share their skills and give a lateral viewpoint.

We will be making available a range of technologies and introducing and initiating some exciting new developments in the field of dance/technology.

Available tech: IR blob tracking, Kinect, MYO, LEAP Motion & Isadora, plus more to be confirmed.

The participants will work in teams to create movement sketches that are inspired by the innovative use of technology and these will be shared in a public event in the afternoon of 26th August.

Places are free, and we can offer accommodation for up to four participants. Capacity is limited.

Application procedure: Send a CV and covering letter to mail(at)taikabox.com by 31.05.16. We will make a selection and inform everybody by 10.06.16.
