PROTECT ME FROM MYSELF » Songs for a female suicide bomberThe Performance is based on the text “Woman-Bomb” by the Croatian playwright Ivana Sajko. It is a monologue of a female suicide bomber a few minutes before her action. This text was transformed by the compagnie “Salon Sauvage” into songs and a stage show.Artist Director Sanja Ristic and her Team succeeded in bringing enormous emotional sensitivities on stage and managed to avoid clichés without losing the appropriate seriousness that is required for the subject.“Protect me from myself“ is a performance that stirs emotions and grabs you. It is in the mix: Silence and self-reflexive moments in which the suicide remembers her past are set against excessive dance scenes, songs and dynamic musical intermezzi. The musical and aesthetic form of expression that is used in musical theatre reflects the emotional and excessive condition of this woman immediately before her action and follows the radical emotional world of the female suicide bomber.Still the fast show with this serious subject never sinks to arbitrary or befriending concernment. „Protect me from myself“ abstains from any moral values.....The inner life of the possibly prototypical female suicide bomber stays a fragment and is presented to the audience only in extracts. The focus lies clearly on the inner life of this “Woman-Bomb”, to put it exactly on the last twelve minutes of her existence. Because the Focus is the Existence. An hour, in an extreme mental state at the border of life does not present resignation, but a moment of high density life.
