Directors and Curators of Screendance Africa, Jeannette Ginslov & Dominique Jossie, have curated a list of African dance films, for the TANZRAUSCHEN International Dance on Screen Festival 28-31 January 2016. This is an international dance film festival that will take place in Wuppertal, Germany, in the cultural centre “die börse", also home to the Tanzteater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. TANZRAUSCHEN works in collaboration with national and international festival partners and presents different film categories of the Dance on Screen culture from art video clips to documentary. Workshops and a conference are also scheduled.

Ginslov will be attending the festival, and present on behalf of Screendance Africa, twelve African screendance works, to its first EU audience, in the Looproom: a “nonstop” program of short movie dance film clips. The dance films were produced in Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso and range from documentary to contemporary performance, music and fashion dance videos to contributions for an international crowd-sourced dance-film project. They reveal a response to present day Africa, a continent of mixed ideologies, creativity, ways of being and dance performance styles.

Ginslov will also will be conducting a 5 hour Screendance and AR (Augmented Reality) workshop that explores screendance, smart phone app technology and interaction design with dialogical choreographic formations. It is open to the public with a fee of €49.

So if you're around near Wuppertal at this time, be curious and check it out! Or, wait until Screendance Africa screens the TANZRAUSCHEN film roll in South Africa. Ginslov and Jossie will no doubt screen the dance films somewhere near you. Keep your eyes peeled!
