Whether you´re a Berliner or a temporary one - we warmly invite you to one or more of the TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012 days and nights!

TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012, the festival of contemporary dance from and for Berlin takes place between 22-26 AUG 2012. This year the 7th edition collects more than 20 works from artists living in Berlin and represents the creative diversity of the city through premières, performances, site-specific performances, installations, special events, workshops and shows for children. On 25
AUG the 'night' becomes a day: from 12 o'clock midday until into the night the public can expect a full programme at the Uferstudios.

One night is not enough to do justice to Berlin as a centre of contemporary dance. TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012, under the artistic direction of Inge Koks, curator of the Frascati Amsterdam, celebrates Berlin and its growing appeal for dance and performance artists from around the world for five days and nights.
The cultural diversity and the climate of artistic freedom are the starting points of the 7th festival edition, which has taken place every two years since 2000. TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012 zooms right into the creative scene of the city. It probes the influence that Berlin exerts over the choreographers that live and work here as well as the reverse: how the artistic work creates and traces the city. The city and its artists – the artists and their city, this is the starting point for the programme of TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012.
The beginning is marked – alongside a work-in-progress series and workshops for children with Colette Sadler in the Uferstudios – by X-CHOREOGRAFEN in the Maison de France in collaboration with the Tanz im August Festival: from 22-24 AUG, 17 emerging choreographers explore in 14 works the myth of the long-forgotten West Berlin in a choreographic-architectural tour of discovery.
On 25 AUG, the 'night' turns into day: after Jo Parkes' TanzZeit-Projekt UFER/OUTSIDE with students of the Erika-Mann Primary School turn Badstraße into a stage at 12 o'clock, there are such diverse and equally outstanding works from midday into the night by An Kaler, Laurent Chétouane, Jeremy Wade, Deter/Müller/Martini, Isabelle Schad, Jefta van Dinther, David Kiers & Minna Tiikkainen, Willy Prager and Gintersdorfer/Klassen to be seen, complemented by hip hop performances by Niels 'Storm’ Robitzky, Raphael Hillebrand and Kadir 'Amigo’ Memis, as well as a performative concert by John the Houseband. This day also sees the premières of ODYSEES COMPLEX by Felix M. Ott and DER GRÜNE STUHL by Public in Private/Clément Layes.
In collaboration with the partners on location at the Uferstudios, TANZNACHT BERLIN 2012 presents formats such as 6 TIMES 10 with ada Studio and METABOLIC METROPOLIS with students of the HZT Berlin. The broad programme is accompanied by sommer.talks and mapping dance berlin, which open new perspectives on events through debates and exhibitions.
