Haenggi approaches DIALOGUE ‘120 dishes’ as a social experiment in communication, set on and around an arrangement of conference tables. It is a dance piece, a theater work, an installation, and a verbal dialogue. Cultural differences are being explored through language and movement/gesture as the key elements defining who we are. Another focus of the residency was to research ways that would give the audience the desire and the opportunity to interact with the performers and influence the performance in real time by sending text messages containing their thoughts, feelings, and reactions to what they are seeing. The work will be further developed in New York and Beijing.
