Martine Epoque and Denis Poulin are the foundators and directors of LARTech, a Laboratory for research-creation in technochoreography based at the Dance Department of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). LARTech is funded by canadian and Québec's governmental agencies and works with Hexagram-UQAM Mocap system Motion Analysis made of 20 infrared cameras.
The actual main project of LARTech is the creation of NoBody dance, a digital dance made of particles. Based on the paradigm of «dance without body» defined par Epoque_Poulin, it consists in a visual transposition of some parts of the score of the Rite of spring, music by Igor Stravinsky. An 8 minutes version, produced in BluRay format, is part of the exhibition called Au-delà de l'image, produced by the Museum for Nature and Sciences of the town of Sherbrooke (Quebec).
Others projects under realization consist in the production of a Digital collection of dancers motion signatures and the creation of large digital dance prints for an exhibition entitled Mouvements focalisés 2. This dance pictures exhibition is organized by and will be hold at the SAS Gallery of Montreal in 2008, September.
Their other project consists in the realization of a Digital collection of dancers motion signatures.
They work with the Hexagram-UQAM Motion Analysis MoCap system made of 20 infra-red cameras.

I am a newcomer to dance-tech.net, and I just looked at your profile. I wish that I would have stumbled upon it sooner because I was just in Montreal late June for a conference. I am a graduate student working on my MFA in dance with a concentration in Arts, Media, and Engineering at Arizona State University. Much of my research involves working with motion analysis/EvaRT. I collaborate with several other faculty/students to build different data models based on various types movement understanding. We primarily use these models to create audio/visual environments for creative exploration, but we're currently looking into other applications. I just wanted to say "hi." I look forward to looking at your website!
Best,
Jessica
