Lindsey Renee Derry is a dancer, choreographer and teacher. She recently received an Isadora Duncan Dance Award (Izzie) for her solo performance in POR·TRAI·TURE. In 2012, after many years as a dancer in several prominent American and Canadian dance companies, Derry launched Linsdans to serve as the platform for her solo performance work and choreography. In 2015, she joined Santa Clara University, Department of Theatre and Dance, as an Adjunct Lecturer in Modern Dance and guest choreographer. Derry is a graduate of Purchase College Conservatory of Dance with a BFA in Dance Performance—summa cum laude. She is the recipient of the 2006 Thayer Fellowship, a prestigious award given by the New York Foundation of the Arts to outstanding State University of New York graduates. As a dancer, Derry has worked with RIOULT (Pascal Rioult), Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, and TAKE Dance (Takehiro Ueyama) in New York City, and José Navas/Compagnie Flak in Montreal, Canada. With these companies, Derry has had numerous touring opportunities, taking her to fourteen countries spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. In San Francisco, Derry has been a Contributing Artist with Yannis Adoniou's KUNST-STOFF Dance Company and a dancer at Hope Mohr Dance. In 2013, Derry premiered POR·TRAI·TURE for Linsdans, an evening-length performance of solo works choreographed by Derry and others. Residencies through the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and at KUNST-STOFF arts enabled the creation of this solo work. With support from American Dance Abroad, Derry participated in three consecutive residencies in Greece and in Berlin’s Stoffwechsel-Metabolism Festival at DOCK 11 where POR·TRAI·TURE was presented at each. This summer, POR·TRAI·TURE will be presented in Canada in Montreal by José Navas/Compagnie Flak and Springboard Danse Montréal and at ROMP! Festival for Independent Dance in Victoria.
