Tori Lawrence, originally from Atlanta, is the choreographer/director of Tori Lawrence + Co. She collaborates with a group of musicians, dancers, and filmmakers on multidisciplinary site-specific installations, dance films, and work for the stage. She has recently been commissioned by the Barnes Foundation to create a new site-specific work and a dance on film that premiered in December 2012. Known for exploring the connection between architecture and choreography, Lawrence has created work in historic landmarks such as Founder's Hall at Girard College (1847), Lancaster's Eastern Market (1883), Philadelphia's Wilbur Chocolate Factory (1887), and York's Schultz House (1752). Her pieces have been presented at the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, K77 Studio in Berlin, En Route Dance Film Festival, Agite y Sirva Screendance Festival, Cultivate Dance Festival, Westbeth Center for the Arts in NYC, American College Dance Festival, Franklin & Marshall College, and the University of North Carolina. She has taught at F&M College and various studios in the Northeast. In 2011, she was an artist-in-residence at Girard College, where she taught improvisation and composition, and is currently in residence at Mascher Space Cooperative. She graduated with honors from Franklin & Marshall College and holds a B.A. in both dance and public health.
