  • The ebbs and flows...
what is on top centers are posts ( the posts can have video, text or pixs).
The other option will be the put the forums higher).
we well see! I still think that the performative text cab be half...
I think that we just should be patiente about the participation...
    we will see....
  • I actually wonder if the decrease in discussion has to do with the way the main page is set up - giving videos the top priority. The discussions aren't in a space that is visually exciting.
  • The show must go on...
  • No worries here . . . just breaking ice and trying to figure out what colony I belong to.
  • no more kissing and making up/out. as announced on the email list: we are all post-body, doomed to an eternal life as the everlasting postmodern discussing undead.
  • At what point do we kiss and make up? Or, would this be too macho? Confused!
  • the medium is the message

may i just add a humble observation. i recently observed a similar communication issue cycling around other topics yet with very similar issues (such as respect) in a european dance network. i think that forums are always very tricky for discussions and so are email lists. somehow, missunderstanding, latent aggression and similar communicational problems seem to occur surprisingly often in this ways of interaction. not too surprisingly the phenomena of "flame wars" is something that comes from exactly these kind of media. somehow a forum can resemble a toilet wall.

may i suggest to not continue this indirect communication and try to proceed using direct ways such as voip or instant messengers? i strongly believe that the ways of communication lead to this mess.
  • Hey tony,
I am tired.. what are you trying to do?
why you have to be so confrontational...?again and again?
    I am so sorry...
    what is the deal?...really
    Passive aggressive jokes...nice style again
    I don't want to know everything...I don't
why are you so ironic with me...?
    about cycling74:
I have an announcement, something very good for the network and it is that Cycling74 is not an sponsor , it is an "Institutional Friend".
Than means that all the members of the network can benefit from this deal:
They will allow all the members of the network to have student discount.
I am not getting any money from anybody...that has to be clear I am bartering for the benefit of the field and the network members. win-win remember that?

    Please blog it!
so, I want to move on...really....consider me out of your play field...
    I don' get plies either...
  • you're all saying the same thing - that you want someone to look at your work with eyes of respect and the willingness to look for the meaning in it. - or what marlon said. - not make assumptions and value judgements

    i
  • I was been honest and direct with you as a call of reflexion and awareness...
this in not to call us "names' it is to see if you are aware of that...are you?
this seems to be a bigger problem Matt...(see mails in the list) a communicational problem derived from a a complex and historical issue and perhaps a change in the landscape of the field..it is true, I am not using your style, I can't.
I want to work this out in a way that all can lean...I mean our community, but start with each of us listening.
I value your work and I think your arguments have to be considered and most of the time I agree but...a say again is your communicational style that was hostile and confrontational.
    That is all.
