We are happy to announce WE LIVE HERE: An Academy 2013,
a temporary community that offers space for encounters: to work and think together.
It will take place from 8 to 13 July in Frascati WG, Amsterdam.
The core activity consists of two parallel working sessions: Post-Hoc Dramaturgy by BADco and Scores as Compositional Strategy with DD Dorvillier and others. We would like to invite you to the public programme, which will include several artist encounters, lectures and presentations.
Under the title HOW DO YOU WORK? there will be three mornings of public encounters with BADco. (July 9), DD Dorvillier (July 10) and Jefta van Dinther (July 12), who will share with us their fascinations, strategies and methodologies.
On Tuesday evening July 9 we’ll be hosting Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Bojana Cvejić, who will present their book A Choreographer’s Score.
On Friday evening July 12 we’ll host the panel discussion/presentation ENCOUNTERS curated by Bertha Bermúdez (ICKamsterdam) in which we will explore a variety of perspectives on the processes and use of documentation in visual arts, music and performance.

Dance Engine is an experiment initiated and produced by Cinedans in collaboration with design studio FourceLabs and the International Choreographic Arts Centre (ICK). Together we are searching for a game experience that derives from movement.
From November 2011 onwards, the first version of the Dance Engine will be shown at different festivals.

Research encounters and seminars @ ICKAmsterdam, NL Dance, science and technology
The dance field has since few years being very fertile in the production of access to its experiential knowledge. A varied range of artistic lead research projects, online networks and platforms together with the production of choreographic tools have been created. Yet questions around their repercussion, usability and dissemination are of great importance.
New media technologies, specially the new internet, plays a great role in the development of this new knowledge paradigm where methods and findings of artistic praxis are placed in the center. Allowing a broad community to have access to process, questions and knowledge generated within artistic environments while reflecting on the meaning, life and potential of the different generated materials, is at this moment of great importance for our artistic field.
Throughout two different programs Notation series aims at providing an interesting overview to the latest gatherings and encounters around dance technology.
This May edition is a collaboration with Marlon Barrios Solano, creator and curator of dance-tech.net and dance-tech.tv (link to sites) as ICKAmsterdam researcher in residency. 12th May

During this encounter an overview of previous international encounters at IRCAM around Workshop on movement qualities and physical models visualizations and the Tanzplan Bienale around Digital tools in dance education will be presented by Bertha Bermudez. As a result of his research residency at ICK, Marlon Barrios Solano will present his research On Choreographic Knowledge and its Circulation on the Net.

Eco-systemic Embodiment: from Gregory Bateson and the latest approximations An Ecology of (EMBODIED) mind(S)
The two seminars are articulated around two documentaries as portals for the discussions and activities. These two film screening/seminars will explore relevant, influential and polemic ideas from the cybernetics pioneer Gregory Bateson and its latest post-humanist developments in relation with embodied practices. The art of thinking in terms of systems is a practice that requires all faculties of cognitive process. It takes effort to expand the context to include a perspective that can effectively hold the interrelationships of the natural world.
Einstein said, “ No problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it”. To get to another level of thinking, different questions have to be asked, from a different perspective.
When Bateson asked the question, “What is the pattern that connects the crab to the lobster the orchid to the primrose and the four of them to me, and me to you?”-He pushed our perception to the level of patterning of the interrelationships.

The Accademia Mobile, the exchange, research and dissemination pillar of ICKamsterdam presents a new initiative: the Dance Notation Series. This is both an online and a real life platform to exchange issues and projects on dance notation. It is the result of a growing collaboration with the Art Practice and Development research group of Marijke Hoogenboom at the Amsterdam School of the Arts and other international partners. It will continue to explore the objectives and results that were generated during the Inside Movement Knowledge project, the interdisciplinary research into new methods for the documentation, transmission and preservation of contemporary choreographic and dance knowledge. Just as the IMK project, the Dance Notation Series will operate within a variety of disciplines and approaches.
As a first pilot program of workshop and lecture-presentations, the Dance Notation Series will test and discuss the potential of the platform during the second edition of the ICK Event Party in the Kitchen, a peek into ICK that takes places from 14 till 16 January 2011 at Frascati and studio Habertu in Amsterdam.

STEIM has created junXion, a software application for music performers, art installation makers, theater makers, choreographers.
STEIM has become institutional friend of dance-tech.net and offers a special version of the junXion software: a version that works for half a year for 30 Euros. This software is normally 75 Euros. After the 6 month you, if you wish can buy the software only paying the remaining balance.
junXion v3 is a Mac OSX data routing application that can process any Human Interface Device (joysticks, mice, touchscreens) and MIDI device data using conditional processing and remapping, with MIDI events as its output. This resulting MIDI data is then available to any audio or music software that runs on that Mac or can be send to external MIDI devices.
junXion v3 is redesigned completely from the ground up (as compared to v1.4), resulting in a system whereby the user creates so-called 'Patches'. Each Patch is a connection between a sensor input (for example: 'joystick X-axis') and an Action (for example: 'convert the sensor data into midi controller 3, but only under certain conditions'). The Action is a user selectable set of conditions and actions that determine what should happen with the input-sensor's data and what kind of MIDI data should be send out.
